OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY

OCT utilizes the latest technology to obtain a cross-sectional image of the retina, the light-sensitive tissue lining the back of the eye.  Sirgany Eyecare added the CIRRUS HD-OCT, which delivers the latest in retina and glaucoma diagnostics, to the office in February 2016.  This non-invasive imaging test allows Dr. Sirgany and Dr. Howard to utilize the newest diagnostic equipment to properly diagnose and treat specific conditions in the earliest stages.  The most common conditions that OCT is used for are macular degeneration, diabetes, glaucoma and retinal diseases. OCT is also used with patients taking high-risk medications or wearing specialized contact lenses.

                                                              

 
 

OPTOMAP RETINAL CAMERA

Sirgany Eyecare proudly offers the Optomap Daytona technology to assist in the best retinal screening examination.  As a non-invasive, instantaneous procedure, the optomap is a highly recommended alternative to dilation.  When your pupils are dilated with drops, your vision is impaired, your eyes are very light sensitive, and the doctors are only getting a 45 degree snapshot of your eye at a time.  The optomap takes a more sophisticated, ultra-wide digital retinal image, allowing an even more thorough examination of your eyes.  A 200 degree broad-view photo is taken and pulled up on the computer during your exam.  This in-depth photo allows for the doctors to better examine and evaluate your eye health.  The optomap retinal imaging can assist in diagnosing and treating retinal problems, diabetes, optic nerve diseases, retinal detachments, glaucoma, macular degeneration, high blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases, and precancerous and cancerous lesions.  The optomap is currently not billable to insurance companies, and is an out-of-pocket expense of $35.


CORNEAL TOPOGRAPHER

Corneal topography, also known as photokeratoscopy or videokeratography, is a non-invasive medical imaging technique for mapping the surface curvature of the cornea, the outer structure of the eye.  A topographical map of the eye is especially helpful for doctors to ensure a healthy fit for contact lens wearers based on the curvature of their eye.  Sirgany Eyecare added the Medmont E300 Corneal Topographer to the office technology in 2014.  This technology allows the doctors to get an extremely accurate map of the patients cornea.  The standard deviation of error with the Medmont E300 is less than 2 microns.  To put that into perspective, the average human hair is 75 microns.  As the only placido ring topographer on the market that can map the cornea from limbus to limbus, it gives our doctors a huge advantage when fitting Scleral or GP Lenses.  

 

TONOMETER

Model: Icare® 

Tonometers are used to measure the pressure inside the eye (IOP).  The optic nerve can be damaged by a buildup of fluid that does not drain from the eye properly, which can lead to glaucoma.  This measurement is a part of the routine comprehensive eye exam and Sirgany Eyecare and is used to check for signs of glaucoma as well as monitor the pressure in patients already being teated for glaucoma.  The  Icare® TAO1i is a hand-held tonometer that provides quick and easy IOP measurements without anesthesia or air.  With the tonometer there is no need for the dreaded "air puff" despised of by patients. The original Icare® tonometer is based on a proven accurate measuring principle known as rebound technology which eliminates corneal disruption and patient discomfort.
